    We Say Goodnight, Not Goodbye

    The days you were here,

    I didn't think you as a "dear."

    The regret I hold deep,

    It is yours to keep.

    We Say Goodnight, not Goodbye...

    Just another Christmas Day,

Again, a day you had your way.

Your smile was from ear to ear,

Your laugh was loud so all could hear.

    We Say Goodnight, not Goodbye...

But that night, that fateful night,

In Steve's room, we turned out the light.

    There you slept, so peacefully,

Angels looked upon you so gently.

    We say Goodnight, not Goodbye...

    Our backs, they were turned,

This is what the Angels learned.

    They crept in silently,

    And they woke you quietly.

    We say Goodnight, not Goodbye...

Oh! They told you it was time to go,

You skipped away with them, though.

We entered the room far too late.

There was little Tyler, tonight his ending date.

    We say Goodnight, not Goodbye...

    Sorrow swept the household,

    Soon, they were all told.

The little boy they once knew,

Had gone and played with the Angels too.

    We say Goodnight, not Goodbye...

But now we all rest with his love,

Knowing Tyler is being taken care of.

We do not despair of his being absent,

Because we all know where the small child went.

    We say Goodnight, not Goodbye...

Jesus holds him close, like we wish we could,

And God loves His son, like we know we should.

So until it's our turn to go away too,

We'll keep dreaming of Tyler, yes you.

    We say Goodnight, not Goodbye...
